Books & Zines
I made my first zine in 2010 and never looked back! Making books is a way to combine my love of graphic design, photography, writing, and drawing into one form. It is expansive - I am able to tell stories with different types of media, without constraints. Books are also a resilient form - they have a cover and many pages stacked together to protect fragile paper pages.
I exhibit my work at zine fairs across the Midwest, as well as group shows and art exhibits. You can find me carrying around my newest book to hand out to friends and acquaintances. My books have travelled all across the U.S. in the mail - sent to my penpals, and purchased through my Etsy shop.
This zine has been in print since 2011, and is my best-selling book!
A spread from “How a Lonely Soul Can Survive the Winter”
Every year since 2019, I have released a list of my favorite books, graphic novels, albums, and films that I have received from the Cleveland Public Library.
I spent many years making hardbound sketchbooks. The pages of this book were free from a material exchange.
“Reading Exercises” was a series of books made with silkscreen and xerox transfer on rice paper. Viewers could read the illuminated books on an overhead projector.
A collaborative chapbook made with submissions from area artists and writers. Intaglio print covers and inkjet printed pages.
“Take Every Ounce of Me with a Grain of Salt” was a hardbound book with silkscreen, xerox transfer, and hand-painted pages. It described the importance of a local food system, and was part of a months-long research project in my printmaking studies.
Miniature book I made to demonstrate to students how miniature zines are assembled. The book can be disassembled to show how spreads are arranged, and then stacked back together to be bound in order.
